USMTS Modifieds visit Fox Ridge Speedway this Wednesday

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (June 25, 2001) - The United States Modified Touring Series will try again this Wednesday June 27th for the rescheduled race from May. The USMTS has had five races in the north region and five different winners visited victory lane. The series will have two races this week starting at Fox Ridge then moving over to the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, MN on Thursday.

So far in 2001 the series has had fifteen races and only three drivers have one more than one race. Johnny the Jet Saathoff made a visit last week to the Butler County Speedway and became the tenth winner in the series. USMTS will bring family fun back to the speedway with some lucky child winning a bicycle.

Another new thing for fans will be the Olympic Fire Protection Pick Six Program giving all lucky fans the chance to pick from one driver to the top six drivers in order. The lucky fan that’s name is drawn has the top six drivers in order will win $5000 courtesy of Olympic Fire Protection.

After five races in the north region Kelly Shryock leads the points over Jason Hughes and Tim Folkerts by 29 points.

This week’s race will begin with hot laps at 7pm and racing at 7:30 sharp. USMTS does realize that people do have to work the next day and will try and have the USMTS modified feature on the track by 9:30. Gates will open at 5pm on Thursday.

A very strong field of modifieds is expected for these two races and drivers from nine states should be on hand. Some of the expected drivers are; Iowa drivers Kelly Shryock, Tim Folkerts, Brad McEwan, Al Hejna, Corey Dripps, Minnesota drivers, Mark Noble, Tim Donlinger, Tommy Myer, Mike Sorensen, Brad Waits, Les Duellman, Steve Wetzstein, Ron Jones, Todd Klees, Jay Ihrke, Wisconsin drivers Mike Wedelstadt, Ron Schreiner, Brian Mullen, Mike Mashl.
