Fox Ridge Speedway welcomes world Dirt Racing League
BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Following a three-race Memorial Day weekend swing through the states of Iowa and Nebraska, the stars of the WORLD Dirt Racing League PolyDome Super Series will converge on Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia, Wisconsin on Friday, June 4.
The event will feature a 50-lap feature race on the high banked 3/8 mile west central Wisconsin oval, with some of the top drivers in the upper midwest expected in the field.
“With the great group of WDRL drivers following their series this year and the way their rules allow the local WISSOTA guys to be competitive, we should have a tremendous field of cars for this show,” commented track promoter Dave Hesch.
“The weight break the WDRL gives the drivers running with WISSOTA motors really allows the guys from around here to have a chance to compete,” he added. “In the years the series has been running in Wisconsin, the WISSOTA cars have always been very competitive and have even won a few races.”
Headlining the group of WORLD Dirt Racing League regulars making the trip to Fox Ridge Speedway is two-time defending series champion, Kyle Berck. Although the 34-year old Marquette, Nebraska bachelor is still looking for his first series win of the 2004 season, he leads all WDRL drivers with eight career wins, including seven in 2003. Included in last year’s total were five wins in his last eight outings and four in the series’ final five events.
Also included in the list of WDRL entries is two-time series runner-up Joe Kosiski of Omaha, Nebraska, a former NASCAR Weekly Racing Series national champion. Kosiski’s two brothers, Steve of Papillion, Nebraska and Ed of Ralston, Nebraska, will also be in the field. Steve, a seven-time NASCAR All-Star Series champion, scored a near miss at the WDRL stop in Freeport, Illinois earlier this year, leading most of the way before losing the advantage to eventual winner Brady Smith.
Other series regulars expected include Dave Eckrich of Cosgrove, Iowa, Denny Eckrich of Tiffin, Iowa, Steve Boley of West Liberty, Iowa, Gary Webb of Blue Grass, Iowa, and John Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska.
Minnesota driver Mark Teske heads a strong group of WDRL regulars from WISSOTA country expected in the field. Teske, the 2003 track champion at Deer Creek Speedway in his home town of Spring Valley, Minnesota, finds himself in the middle of the 2004 series points chase after top ten finishes at Davenport Speedway (Iowa) and Freeport Raceway Park (Illinois) in early April.
Brady Smith of Solon Springs, Wisconsin, the winner of the WDRL stop in Freeport, also will be on hand, as well as Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Ace Ihm of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, Steve Isenberg of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Chris Carlson of Greenfield, Wisconsin, Brad Seng of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and John Henekemeyer of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.
In addition to the WDRL Super Late Models, also included on the card will be the WISSOTA Super Stocks and the WISSOTA Street Stocks.
General admission gates will open at 5:00 p.m., with racing set to get underway at 7:30.
