Anderson aces Midwest Modified main at Dodge County

KASSON, Minn. (Aug. 26, 2001) - The Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, MN opened the gates on Sunday for a very entertaining night of auto racing in all 4 respective divisions. With only 2 nights to go in the point standings, some very intense battles are ongoing in all 4 classes atop the points lists.
Tony Sass took the lead at the start of the Street Stock feature, but got sideways on the back stretch and a pile up ensured causing Rex Welch to flip violently down the back stretch. Welch was uninjured and a complete restart was necessary.
On the restart, Jeff Brauer was out front right away and began to walk away from the battle for second, which included Steve Goodenough and Jason Gabrielson. Gabrielson was able to wrestled second spot away from Goodenough and set off after Brauer out front.
Kevin Adams began to make his way toward the front as he battled with Mark Jennings for fourth, while trying to close in on the top runners. After several quick cautions the field bunched up again and Gabrielson, who was having a great run was forced to retire with a flat tire, giving the second spot to Adams.
Adams began to pressure Brauer for the lead, but Jeff was a bit too strong tonight and added to his track point lead by racing to the win. Adams came home in second and Goodenough rounded out the top three runners.
Jade Anderson took command at the start of the Midwest Modified feature and never looked back as he ran away and hid from the field to lead from start to finish. Behind Anderson Jerry Young and Jesse Frericks had a great battle early on while Jim Arnold made his way through traffic up to fourth early.
Anderson continually pulled away from the field and was racing in a different time zone for much of the event way ahead of the field. Young, Frericks and Arnold had a great battle for second for much of the event, while Corey Miller was picking his way through traffic and appeared in fourth just past the mid-point of the event.
Anderson continued to run strong and raced to an uncontested feature win ahead of Young. Miller had his best run since switching cars to come home in third at the line.
Dave Haberman took the lead from the out side of the front row at the start of the Super Stock feature and immediately pulled out to a sizeable advantage over the field. Curt Myers was on the move early and wrestled second away from Mark Teske and tried to set off after Haberman. Myers continued to track down Haberman, but Teske jumped up to the cushion and slipped back into second when Myers got a bit loose in turn 4.
Once Teske was up to second, he began to pressure Haberman for the lead and pulled alongside of the leader on lap 16 and began to put on a show for the fans as they ran side by side for the remainder of the event.
Teske used the high line to gain momentum on Haberman, shooting by into the lead off of the corners and was able to use that momentum to his advantage and storm to his fourth feature win of the week ahead of Haberman and Mark Wytakse, who slipped my Myers in the final circuits of the event.
Mike Sorensen took the lead at the start of the Modified feature and immediately pulled out to a sizeable advantage over Scott Kobs, who was battling with Bob Hodsch for second.
Several early cautions took out some top runners including Brad Waits, Todd Klees and Steve Wetsztein and forced Kobs to give up his second place spot with a flat tire. On the restart, Sorensen took off again as Nate Wasmund, Nathan Kilwine and Tommy Myer were locked in battle for third behind the leaders. Myer got up into third and then raced to the inside of Wasmund for second on lap 10. Once Myer was into second he began to track down Sorensen out front.
Myer reeled in Sorensen for the lead and began to duke it out for the top spot on lap 13. By lap 15 Myer dove to the inside of Sorensen in turn one and shot by into the lead which he would hold to the checkered. Myer then ran unchallenged out front to pick up his first win of the season at the speedway in a surprise appearance. Sorensen came home in second and Wasmund rounded out the top three.
Racing resumes at Dodge County this Sunday with season championship racing action for WISSOTA Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and IMCA Modifieds. The first green flag is set to fly at 7pm.
