KASSON, Minn. (July 22, 2001) - The Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, MN was the place to be on Sunday for a very entertaining night of auto racing in all 4 respective divisions.

Kevin Adams bolted into the lead at the drop of the green of the Street Stock feature and never looked back. Adams wasted no time pulling out to a large advantage over Jeff Brauer who was having his hands full with Rex Welch. Welch was running very quick laps around the speedway and was reeling in Brauer, while Chris and Dan Gullikson were in a great battle for fourth.

Adams was setting a blistering pace up front while Welch continued to dog Brauer for second. Greg Erickson was also moving forward and joined the battle with the Gullikson brothers and made it a three car scramble for the position until Dan Gullikson suddenly pulled his #00 into the pits with a mechanical problem.

Adams continued to show the way while Welch was able to wrestle second away from Brauer in the late going of the main event. Adams picked up his second win at the Dodge County Speedway this season ahead of Welch and Brauer.

Matt Stark took command at the start of the Midwest Modified main event and immediately pulled out to a large advantage over Carter Gerlach and Pete Klingfus, who were locked in a great battle for second. Jim Arnold, Corey Miller and newcomer Craig Larson were all on the move toward the front.

Larson and Gerlach were reeling in Stark up front and soon made it a three car battle for the lead. Larson was running extremely well on the inside of the speedway and stole the lead away from Stark on lap 9. Arnold was able to sneak through traffic as well and snatched second on lap 12, but was unable to make up enough ground on Larson as Craig went on to pick up his second win of the weekend over Arnold and Matt Stark.

Mark Teske used his front row starting spot to his advantage and blasted off into the lead at the drop of the green flag in the Super Stocks and quickly pulled out to a sizeable advantage over Dave Haberman. A great battle for third was waging as Jon Van Minsel, Bill Clemens, Curt Myers and Stacy Edgar were all locked in competition for the position. Myers was able to duck to the inside of Edgar and secure the third spot, but Teske and Haberman had established a big lead and were strung out around the speedway.

Teske raced unchallenged to his first feature win of the season at the speedway in the non-stop event. Haberman ran solidly in second and outran Myers to the stripe.

Chad Behne, fresh off his first career Modified feature win several weeks ago, took the lead at the drop of the green flag and looked to run away and hide from the field, but Steve Wetzstein had other plans as he jumped quickly into second and began to stalk Behne up front. A great battle for third was ensuing between Brad Waits, Dean Reiss and Dave Siercks.

Waits took over the third spot and set off after the leaders. Wetzstein had built himself a nice lead while Waits and Behne began to battle for second.

Waits secured the position and set off after Wetzstein up front as Reiss moved in to challenge Behne for third.

Waits began to make up some ground on Wetzstein, but Steve was scotched tonight and cruised to his first feature win of the season over Waits and Reiss.

Racing resumes at Dodge County this Sunday with regular racing action for WISSOTA Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and IMCA Modifieds.

The first green flag is set to fly at 7pm.
