KASSON, Minn. (June 21, 2001) - Mike Chasteen is picking up where he left off last season as well. On Tuesday night he would gather a fourth place finish. On Wednesday Chasteen would lead just about all the laps except the most important one being the last one getting passed by Kelly Shryock. On Thursday night the series visited the Dodge County Speedway and the full grandstands was treated to some awesome side by side racing.

Mike Chasteen would not be denied the victory tonight as he picked up the Simpson Race Products A-main event and also his third win of the season. Chasteen’s win did not come easy as he had to hold off a hard charging Tim Donlinger as the laps were winding down. On the last lap coming out of turn four the Chasteen car which was in some major lap traffic slid to the top of the track where Donlinger was trying to get a run to get by the 40 car for the victory ending the hopes for Donlinger. At the finish line it was Myer with a third place finish and Jay Ihrke was fourth.

The race started with an early caution when Mark Noble got into the wall in turns 3-4 ending his hopes. Tommy Myer jumped out in to the early lead before Chasteen took the top spot from him on lap two. By lap 20 they were into lap traffic and Donlinger was starting to reel in the leader. Rounding out the top five was Justin Boney.

The Harris Auto Racing Heat Races were won by Nathan Kilwine, Tommy Myer, Ron Schreiner, Corey Dripps, and Jay Ihrke. The Midwest Motorsports B-mains were won by Jason Hughes and Bob Samann. Next race for the USMTS north region will be This Wednesday at the Fox Ridge Speedway in Arcadia, WI and Thursday at the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, MN.
