Schreiner victorious at DCS

KASSON, Minn. -- It was a pleasant evening at the Dodge County Speedway on Sunday night, and even though the car count was down a little bit from normal, the quality of the racing was exciting as usual.

In WISSOTA Street Stock action, Steve Eischens took the lead early from the pole. Tom McEldowney gave chase, and Dan Gullikson wasted no time in getting in to position to challenge for the lead. Jim Gullikson and Greg Erickson contested the fourth spot while Dan Gullikson looked to the inside of Eischens for the lead. The two leaders made some contact on the backstretch which resulted in Eischens spinning in to the infield and Dan Gullikson getting sent to the rear for the restart.

Eischens continued to lead after going green again, followed by Jim Gullikson and Troy Voth. Cale Berry was making a lot of progress after starting deep in the field, followed by Jeff Brauer who also started near the tail. But as Berry took over fourth, Brauer made contact sending Berry around. Berry was able to continue but Brauer would be charged with the caution. Jim Gullikson retired with a breakdown late in the race, and Eischens held on to pick up the win. Voth, Berry, McEldowney, and Vince Corbin rounded out the top five.

The Midwest Modifieds were up next with Tim Siercks and Jesse Frericks sharing row one. An early race caution would find Siercks going to the back with a spin in turn three. Kenny Wytaske would be the early leader followed by Frericks and Albert Wytaske. Dan Fagerlind and Chad Herman made some good moves and made things interesting in the front. Albert Wytaske got by Frericks to take over second, but out front, it was the familiar site of Kenny Wytaske stretching his lead. Nick Kramer had a good run going, battling for position with Ringenberg. But contact resulted in Kramer going around and Ringenberg restarting from the tail. Albery Wytaske tried to reel in Kenny Wytaske but had no luck in doing so. Kenny Wytaske held on for yet another win at the Dodge County Speedway, followed by Albert Wytaske, Jesse Frericks, Chad Herman, and Greg Pfieffer.

Up next were the WISSOTA Super Stocks. Brandon Jensen and Bill Clemens shared row one but after some trouble getting going, the field was made to start single file. Jensen had the bottom groove and the lead with Clemens all over his rear bumper. Nick Herrick and Mark Teske had a great battle going for third, swapping the position a few times throughout the race. Clemens continued to keep the pressure on Jensen, getting a nose under him more than a few times. Dustin Nelson looked very fast and was able to pass where other cars could not. Nelson took over fourth from Teske and then set his sights on Herrick. Clemens kept the heat turned up on Jensen and in the closing laps, was able to get under him to take the lead. Nelson also picked off a couple more spots to finish a very solid second, with Jensen hanging on to third, also a very solid run. Herrick and Teske rounded out the top five.

The final event of the evening were the USRA Modifieds. Ron Schreiner grabbed the lead over Todd Klees and Mike Sorenson. Klees put some heavy pressure on Schreiner and could pull even exiting turn two but Schreiner kept the door shut. Jay Ihrke and Darwyn Karau battled for fifth. Jordan Steier was spun around in turns three and four bringing out the caution. Bob Timm was penalized and sent to the rear for the incident. On the restart, it was Schreiner, Klees, Sorenson, Paul Hamernick, and Jay Ihrke rounding out the top five. Klees again put pressure on Schreiner trying to get under him for the lead. But Schreiner was solid and held off the challenges from Klees. Brad Waits and Tim Donlinger were making their way to the front as the laps wound down, with Waits moving up to fourth and Donlinger taking over fifth. Schreiner held on for the win with Klees finishing a solid second, and Sorenson third.
