HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- Darron Fuqua of Mayetta rode into Humboldt Speedway Sunday night with power to spare and ready for action in the annual Whitworth Memorial Race.

With 20 USRA Modifieds racing for 25 laps and $1,063 to win, some of the nation's finest squared off to do battle in the USRA Modified main event.

Initially, polesitter Terry Schultz of Sedalia, Mo., rocketed into the lead while the rest of the field gave chase.

Several laps in, Fuqua took the high side of the Humboldt high banks, ignored the wall and blew by Schultz to take a lead he would not relinquish.

Schultz and Justin "Whitey" Folk then locked horns, and Schultz finished second with Folk third, Ryan McAninch fourth and Tanner Mullins in fifth.
