HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- The Humboldt Speedway was back in normal working order Friday with the year's first good night of weather. The track was lighting fast during hot laps as it looked to be a night of awesome racing. It was also a night about the kids where three age groups took the track to battle it out on their bicycles.

The last race of the night was the McCarthy Auto Group USRA Modifieds. Justin "Whitey" Folk is a fan favorite almost every week, but this week his car almost didn't make it to the track.

As the car owner was nearing the speedway, the car came off the open trailer and nearly ended the night early. But the crew got it all fixed and Folk went on to win the first heat race. Luke Driskell put his GRT on the top of 'The Hummer' to win the second heat race an last week's winner, John Allen, won the third heat.

Come feature time it was anyone's chance to win and Ryan McAninch looked as if he would get his second feature win as he put his black #52 on the top and looked flawless. During that time, down on the lower portion of the track, Folk was testing his adjustments.

Folk eventually drive under McAninch to take the lead on lap 10 and never looked back. During his post-race interview, folk said that he had to turn the brakes to the back and that's what it took.

Cations kept the race tight most the night but when the checkers flew on lap 20, Folk had five car-lengths over the runner-up and hard charger Josh Everhart. McAninch took third, Jesse Folk Jr., keeps working on his 2013 woes and was able to take home fourth with Driskell rounding out the top 5.

Next week is a special Friday with regular races and anybody wanting to camp for the weekend can join the festivities at Turtle Creek. On Sunday it will be the Whitworth Memorial Race paying $1,063 to win USRA Modifieds.
