Hodges breaks through in USRA Heartland Modified Tour.

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (July 5, 2025)—Dustin Hodges has reacclimated well in his return to the seat of a USRA Modified after a multi-year stint with a late model.

Starting from the inside front row of Saturday's event at the Central Missouri Speedway, Hodges took command early and never looked back while, rolling to a victory in the Tom Wilson Memorial.

It was his first USRA Heartland Modified Tour win of the 2025 season.

“This one’s for my guys, everybody sticking behind me,” explained an exuberant Hodges in victory lane. “We have had some bad luck as of late, so this one means a lot. First one with my son finally getting one with him, so this is awesome.”

For the second night in a row, Henry Chambers had an impressive run piloting the Sonic Racing No. 17 to another runner-up finish. Chambers had to hold off a hard-charging Chevy Coleman on several restarts, with Coleman eventually settling for third. Shadren Turner finished fourth and Troy Gemmill completed the top five.

For the second night in a row, Bobby Williams set the Deatherage Opticians Fast Time. Sigg Tire & Auto Hard Charger Mark Smith moved up nine positions to charge through the field to 12th.

Saturday night was the final Modified event at Central Missouri Speedway under the ownership of Earl and Susan Walls. They have owned and operated the track for 31 seasons. For many years they paced the entire region in weekly payouts for the “Mighty Modifieds.”

In an era where typical weekly payouts for the division generally ranged from $350 t0 $600 to win, Earl Walls continually paid $1,000 to win weekly, with a purse somewhere in the $7,000 plus range. Simply put, they set the bar for Modified racing in the immediate region and kept teams racing.

The entire staff of Heartland Promotions wishes to extend the best to the Walls family in their retirement, and thank them for their years of consistent and tireless work at the Central Missouri Speedway. The Heartland Modified Tour came into existence to run in events like the Tom Wilson Memorial, and at tracks like Central Missouri Speedway.

Up next, the USRA Heartland Modified tour travels to the Sooner State for  a pair of dates battling against the USRA  American Racer Modifed Series at the two-day Joe Duvall’s Funkadelic Dirt Track & Honky Tonk Extravaganza at Arrowhead Speedway and Salina Highbanks Speedway.
