GREENWOOD, La. (June 6, 2025)—Friday night’s 19th Annual Doug Murphrey Memorial (Night 1 of 2) featuring the USRA American Racer Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports at Boothill Speedway brought heartfelt racing action to honor a beloved figure in the racing community. The event, a tribute to Doug Murphrey, drew a passionate crowd and the Murphrey family to celebrate his legacy.

In the USRA Modified A Feature, Jim Chisholm of Osage, Iowa, captured the victory with a masterful drive from the fourth starting spot. Chris Henigan of Marshall kept the pressure on to finish second, followed by Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, in third. Tanner Mullens of Wichita, Kan., took fourth, and Kyle Strickler of Mooresville, N.C., rounded out the top five. Chisholm dedicated his win to the Murphrey family, noting the emotional weight of the event.

The USRA B-Mod feature saw Coty Tupper of Blanchard take the checkered flag after leading from the start. Conner Williams of Sibley followed in second, with Jeremy Haddox of Ruston in third. Ricky Ingalls of Longview, Texas, and T.J. Evans of Gladwater, Texas, completed the top five. Tupper’s victory was a crowd favorite, as he praised the track’s fast surface and the event’s significance.

Derick Grigsby of Marshall dominated the USRA Limited Mod feature, holding off Justin Whitehead of Texarkana, Texas, for the win. Stephen Guidry of Marksville finished third, followed by Ricky Burk of Waskom and Jack Dupont of Shreveport. Grigsby credited his crew for a flawless setup, making his run a fitting tribute to Murphrey’s legacy.

In the USRA Tuner feature, Josh Worn of Benton charged to victory, fending off Clay Gardner of Lewisville, Ark., in second. Tyler Ellis of Murfreesboro, Ark., took third, with Jackson Mourad of Haughton in fourth and Brentley Smith of Marshall in fifth. Worn’s emotional post-race comments highlighted the honor of racing in Murphrey’s memory.

The night was filled with competitive racing and heartfelt moments, as drivers and fans alike reflected on Doug Murphrey’s impact on the sport. The event showcased Boothill Speedway’s commitment to honoring its history while delivering top-tier racing action.

The 19th Annual Doug Murphrey Memorial concludes Saturday, June 7, with Night 2 of 2, featuring USMTS Modifieds, USRA American Racer USRA Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports, USRA B-Mods, USRA Limited Mods, and USRA Tuners.
