Donlan, Hovden, Seabrooke, Hills cruise to Cresco checkers


CRESCO, Iowa (June 5, 2025)—Thursday night’s Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series at Cresco Speedway delivered thrilling action across four divisions, with local drivers dominating the feature races under clear skies at the historic oval.

In the USRA Stock Cars feature, Kevin Donlan of Decorah led the charge, holding off a fierce challenge from Jackson Vsetecka of Fort Atkinson to claim the victory. Chris Hovden of Cresco finished third, followed by Tom Schmitt of Independence and Casey Colsch of Caledonia, Minn. Donlan’s win marked his second of the season at Cresco, showcasing his consistency at his home track.

The USRA B-Mods feature saw Dan Hovden of Decorah take the checkered flag after a commanding performance from the pole. Ben Moudry of Protivin secured a hard-fought second, with Klay Beemer of Fairmont, Minn., in third. Dale Schwamman of Fort Atkinson and Kyle Anderson of Decorah rounded out the top five. Hovden’s victory was a crowd favorite, as the Decorah native celebrated with a burnout in front of the packed grandstands.

Paul Seabrooke of Decorah thrilled the hometown fans in the USRA Hobby Stocks feature, fending off Joshua Ludeking of Decorah for the win. Ryan Crooks of Ionia took third, followed by Taylor Donlan of Decorah and Parker Anderson of Welcome, Minn. Seabrooke credited his crew for a perfectly dialed-in car, noting the tight competition in the division.

The USRA Tuners feature closed the night with Jeremy Hills of Postville emerging victorious after a late-race pass. Dalton Fels of Calmar finished second, followed by Tom Kessel of Waukon, Dillon Riehle of Waukon, and Perry Kessel of Cresco. Hills’ win was his first of the season, a breakthrough moment for the Postville driver.

The event drew a strong crowd, with fans enjoying ideal weather and competitive racing across all classes. Track officials praised the drivers for their sportsmanship and the fans for their enthusiastic support.

Cresco Speedway returns to action June 25-26 for the Mighty Howard County Fair, featuring the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series. Wednesday’s program includes USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, and USRA Tuners, while Thursday showcases USRA Hobby Stocks.
