Doug Murphrey Memorial on tap June 6-7

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (June 4, 2025)—This weekend Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La., becomes the epicenter of dirt modified racing as it hosts the Doug Murphrey Memorial. This co-sanctioned event brings together the USRA American Racer Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports and the Summit USMTS National Championship presented by RacinDirt.

The event will run under the USMTS format and rules, promising a high-stakes showdown between national titans and regional standouts. The event is set to deliver intense competition on Boothill’s storied clay oval.

The Doug Murphrey Memorial is more than a race; it’s a tribute to a beloved figure in the racing community, and a chance for the Murphrey family to gather and remember a great man.

In recent years, the newest member of the Murphrey family has taken to the track, young Kale Murphrey. He has a USRA Modified and USMTS aspirations, but for the time being is still learning the ropes in his USRA B-Mod.

Kale Murphrey will be behind the wheel honoring his grandfather this weekend.

“This is one of the most special events on our calendar every year,” said RacinDirt and Heartland Promotions co-owner Trenton Berry. “From the very beginning of RacinDirt we have been at this race. The Murphrey family are some of the finest people we've ever met. We always want to honor their patriarch and share in the weekend with them.”

For the ARMS portion of the event, it will offer attendance points only, with a national field of competitors expected. The series will also award two nightly provisionals, if needed, among series eligible drivers.

Gary Christian of Broken Bow, Okla., leads the way in the ARMS points, with Kale Westover of Altus, Okla., in second. Manuel Williams II of Folke, Ark.; Sean Gaddis of Diana, Texas; and Trevor Hughes of Colcord, Okla., complete the top five.

2025 Points Fund: 1. $7500, 2. $4500, 3. $3500, 4. $3000, 5. $2500, 6. $2400, 7. $2300, 8. $2200, 9. $2100, 10. $2000.
