Wettengel, Karrick capture Lakeside Speedway openers

Tim Karrick won the USRA B-Mod main evnet.
The Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series brought high-octane dirt track racing to Lakeside Speedway on Friday, captivating fans with intense battles in the USRA Stock Car and USRA B-Mod divisions.
Competitors showcased skill and strategy on the Kansas City track, delivering a night of close finishes and standout performances.
In the USRA Stock Car feature, Jaylen Wettengel from Topeka led the charge, securing the victory after starting second. Chris Dishong from Atchison followed closely in second, maintaining pressure throughout the race.
Rodney Schweizer took third, climbing from a fifth-place start. Jason Newman from Kearney, Mo., earned fourth, while Darrin Schmidt from Winchester rounded out the top five with an impressive run from 10th.
The USRA B-Mod feature saw Tim Karrick from Basehor dominate from the pole position to claim the win. Chad Clancy from Polo, Mo., held strong for second after starting alongside Karrick.
Jon Sheets from Nevada, Mo., charged from sixth to third, showcasing a strong climb, while Kerry Davis from Parkville, Mo., finished fourth. Michael Taylor III closed out the top five.
The event highlighted the depth of talent in both classes, with drivers navigating tight racing conditions to earn their spots. Lakeside Speedway continues to be a premier venue for dirt track racing, and fans are already looking forward to the next round of USRA action.
Lakeside Speedway kicked off 2025 with great racing on a smooth fast racing surface and familiar faces in Nextran Truck Center GMC Victory Lane.
