BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2001) - A tweak here and a tweak there put Johnny Saathoff in victory lane again.

Saathoff won the Harris Auto Racing Night of 1,000 Stars feature event for I.M.C.A. Sunoco Modifieds Thursday night at Hancock County Speedway. The win at Britt also marked his third National Modified Series triumph of the sea-son.

"The track was slick and you could race anywhere from top to bottom," he said. "We tried a few things in the dash, won that and then tweaked the car a little further for the feature."

Jet Racing teammate Kevin Larkins ran second in the main event, with Jay Noteboom third and Kevin Stoa fourth.

Four-time Stars winner John Logue prevailed in what became a dogfight for fifth with series points leader Brian Foote.

Foote started outside the second row and led past the mid-way point of the 30-lap main event, with Saathoff on his heels much of that time.

Saathoff finally found the way to the front on the 17th circuit, going to the lowest groove on the second set of turns to sneak into first.

"I couldn't always keep up with him (Foote). He was a tough customer to pass," Saathoff said.

Noteboom and Ricky Stephan made up the front row at the start and ran in the top four much of the way. Noteboom stayed on the bottom, giving way grudgingly to Saathoff and then Larkins. Stephan ended the night in 10th.

Todd Stinehart, Logue and Randy Zimmerman won the "B" races.

Heat wins went to Jimmy Gustin, Kevin Stoa, Scott Olson, Saathoff, Larkins and Foote.

Saathoff duplicated Logue's last season accomplishment in winning the Night of 1,000 Stars and the Harris Clash, held in July at the Knoxville Raceway.
