Gillmore garners USRA B-Mod money at Humboldt Speedway
Ryan Gillmore won the USRA B-Mod main event.
Friday night the Humboldt Speedway featured some of the hottest USRA B-Mod drivers in the three-state area shooting it out for the AmeriFlex B-Mod Spercial.
The night started off with 19 USRA B-Mods making up three heat races.
Heat race one set the tone for the night with the Likes of Tyler Kidwell, Brian Bolin and Terry Schultz shooting it out. The heat race win went to Bolin carrying the familiar X2 to the checkers with Kidwell and Schultz finishing in the top three.
Heat two was a stout field as well with Springfield, Mo., racer Ryan Gillmore and Battle of the Bullring winner Reece Solander showing they were a force to be reckoned with and worked their way through the field, each gaining four spots.
At the fall of the checkers, Solander held off Gilmore and Great Bend driver Slade Mohr finished third.
The third heat saw Fort Scott driver Andy Bryant return to Humboldt Speedway and made the most of it by picking up the heat race win, followed by a hard-charging Tanner Cade and John Sheets in third.
The AmeriFlex B-Mod special was paced to the green by Kidwell and Cade with Kidwell taking the early lead and setting his sights on another win, but there were some drivers behind that had other ideas.
Gillmore fell back early but made his way to the front, battling with Solander and Kidwell on his way to his first with this year at Humboldt. Kidwell would come home sedond with Solander, Sheets and Shultz rounding out the top five.
The ARMI Contractors USRA Modifieds were up next with three heat races that saw Kenton Allen, Jacob Hobschiedt and Brian McGowen picking up the wins.
The feature saw Dan Daniels and Allen bring the field to the green. Allen looked strong early on as he built a lead as the field would work through the main event, but disaster striked when Allen went around in turn three to bring out the caution.
This bunched the field back up and allowed Tim Ward of Harcourt, Iowa, and Hobschiedt (Plattsmouth, Neb.) making their first trip to Humboldt a good one as they went on to finish first and second.
Behind the top two were Paden Phillips, Daniels and Houston Johnson.
The Humboldt Speedway will be off May 24 and will return May 31.
