HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series national points leader Johnny Bone Jr. took another step toward the elusive title of National Champion Friday night with his second win in as many weeks at the Humboldt Speedway in the USRA RHS Modified main event.

Bone held off Brian Bolin, Dustin Boney, Terry Beckham II and Justin "Whitey" Folk at the checkers.

When we left you last week, several issues were yet to be decided at Humboldt Speedway. Here's what happened:

After tech inspection of tires for possible "doping" was conducted last week on samples from Bone, runner-up John Allen and Bolin. After lab results were recieved, the tire sample taken from Bolin was found to have been exposed to some type of chemical used in cleaning compounds.

Since the chemical discovered was not the same one generally used to "dope" tires, but was unusual, Bolin was docked points for one night and fined $285.

Bolin had been declared the track's Mid-Season Champion based on the points awarded that were later docked. That was enough to deny him his title and Folk was named the USRA RHS Modified Mid-Season Champion.

To honor the Nation's birthday, fireworks will be displayed after next week's races.
