CRESCO, Iowa (Aug. 18, 2002) - Mabe's Pizza and Resturant of Cresco sponsored the nights racing action at the Cresco Speedway Sunday night.

Factory Stocks were first to the track with heat wins going to Dillon Anderson and Jimmy Broszert. Hobby Stocks were up next with heat wins going to Steve Holthaus, Darin Walch and Kevin Donlan. Lynn Panos, Mike Kelly and Mike Vsetecka picked up the Stock Car heat wins and Scott Lipps and Randy Koshatka grabbed the Hornet heat wins. Modifieds were the last class to the track with heat wins going to Josh Secor, Chuck Stanton and Chad Lerch.

Steve Holthaus, Lynn Panos and Josh Secor won the Cash Dash races with Holthaus being the only driver to accept the Gordy's "A" Challenge by electing to start from the rear of the Feature race.

Factory Stocks took to the track for the first feature of the night. Jesse Miller looked to have the car to beat as he jumped to the early lead. Miller got tangled up with lapped traffic at the half way point of the race, sending him to the pits for the night. On the restart, Dan Konmen took over the top position with Dillon Anderson and Kurt Krauskkof close behind. With two laps remaining, Anderson got the advantage on the low side of the track and held on to pick up the win. Konmen finished second followed by Krauskof and Keith Eischens.

Hobby Stocks were up next. Kevin Donlan jumped to the early lead, but all eyes were on Holthaus as he started in the 20th position and was quickly moving up the field trying to take home the extra money put up for the Gordy's challenge. Mean while up front, Darrin Walch and Jeremy Moellers pulled up to the rear bumper of the Donlan machine with Donlan and Walch running side by side. Donlan held on for the victory with Walch a close second. Moellers finished third and Holthaus finished fourth.

Mother Nature was the winner for the rest of the nights racing action as rain started falling. The rest of the nights racing action was canceled and will be made up next weekend before the season championship races. Dwarf cars will also be running next Sunday night.
