NAPA Gopher 50 postponed to Sunday at Deer Creek Speedway


SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- With the current conditions and pending forecast officials from the Deer Creek Speedway were forced to postpone the 35th running of the NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50.

The good news is fans will only have to wait 24 hours. The event has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 13.

"While things don't always go according to planned there's always an upside to things and in this case luck may actually be on our side," stated Jerry Ingvalson of the Blooming Prairie Lions and long time event coordinator. "There were a number of other late model events running on Saturday night and with the Gopher 50 now running on Sunday there is a chance to pick up some additional competitors that we wouldn't have otherwise gotten," he stated.

The World of Outlaw Late Model Series will headline the 35th running of the annual NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 which will now be held on Sunday, July 13th. Hot laps are set to begin at 5:30 followed by time trials.

This year's late model portion of the event is slated to pay $10,000
 to the win and $700 to start with an additional $1,000 up for grabs for the feature winner and $100 bonus for heat races for winners who participate in the NAPA Auto Parts bonus program.

To carry on the tradition the USRA Modifieds will also be gearing up to do battle on the high banks of the recently resurfaced speed-plant. This year's event will pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start and will be sanctioned under the United States Racing Association (USRA). ($75 entry fee. $100 tow money for non A-main qualifiers. Draw opens at 4:30, cut off is at 6:00. Car or driver must be present to draw in the modified division. Draw re-redraw race format)

The great folks at NAPA Auto Parts have also put some extra cash up for grabs in the modified division as well! To qualify drivers simply have to display the famous NAPA Auto Parts logo on their car. Heat race winners will receive a $100 bonus and the feature winner will take home an additional $1,000 if they are running the provided sticker.

Tickets will be available at the speedway on the day of the event but fans are urged to get there early to ensure they get a good seat. Adult grandstand tickets are $30, kids 12 & under are $15. Pit passes are $35 and can be purchased at the pit gate entrance.
