USRA American Racer Modified Series guns ablazin’ July 23 at Creek County Speedway
The Creek County Speedway is set for a stellar showdown this Saturday, July 23, as the USRA American Racer Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports invades the high-octane quarter-mile oval for the Beer:30 as part of the annual Club91 Funkadelic Dirt Track & Honky Tonk Extravaganza.
This year’s mini-series will be one big night only as the Red Dirt Raceway has made the tough decision to cancel Friday’s Cowboy 100 due to extremely dangerous heat.
“The Funkadelic races are an event that I’ve grown to love doing every year,” said event founder Joe Duvall, who swept both nights in 2021. “It’s a weekend where I get to race at home and see people I’ve known my entire life. The events themselves are solely the racetracks. I just round up sponsors and stand on the corner telling the world there’s some races going on.”
Red Dirt Raceway’s award-winning promoter, Cody Brewer, said it was a tough decision but with the lack of rain and all the heat he felt a good racing surface for the Cowboy 100 was not possible.
However, Brewer and the Red Dirt Raceway are adding to the purse for Saturday’s show at the Creek County Speedway in nearby Kellyville, Okla.
“That speaks volumes about their commitment to these events,” Duvall added. “The cancellation of the Cowboy 100 at Red Dirt doesn't mean the weekend isn't happening. It just means you’re only going to have a hangover on Sunday. Bring your cooler filled full of your favorite drinks and we will lock the gate when we all leave Sunday. Bring your neighbor and plan on having a good time.”
Thanks to several sponsors, Saturday’s USRA Modified main event will now pay $2,500 to win and every driver who takes the green flag in the main event will pocket no less than $300.
Presenting sponsors for Saturday’s event at the Creek County Speedway include AmeriFlex Hose & Accessories, Bergman CPA Tax & Accounting, driveWFX.com, Duvall Electric, Mel Hambelton Ford and Red Dirt Raceway.
The Creek County Speedway is located at 18450 West U.S. Rt. 66, Kellyville, OK 74039—about 20 minutes from Tulsa or an hour from Oklahoma City. For more information, check out creekcountyspeedway.co.
For local, regional and long-haul racers looking for a full weekend of action, several racetracks in the area will be hosting USRA Modifieds and awarding Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series
National points.
A special event at the Caney Valley Speedway is set for Thursday night, and for those wanting a place to race on Friday, the Humboldt Speedway is just up the road. Callaway Raceway, Lakeside Speedway and Monett Motor Speedway also race Friday night.
Drivers, don’t forget that those who pre-enter for this and any ARMS race in 2022 save on entry fees and are eligible for one of three $100 cash drawings at the pit meeting that night. Enter now at myracepass.com.
Special thanks to American Racer, ARMI Contractors, Day Motor Sports, Innovative AutoGlass & Window Tint, RacerWebsite.com, RacinDirt, Star 1 Roofing & Construction, Summit Racing Equipment, Texas Locomotive Solutions and TNT Auto Parts for their support.
Through five events, Chris Henigan has three wins to go with a third-place finish and second-place effort but despite leading the ARMS points, his lead is vulnerable as Duvall’s string of top-five finishes has ‘Big Daddy’ 39 points behind Henigan.
Triston Dycus is just an additional 37 makers back. Gaddis is fourth in the series standings with 379 points, followed by Manuel Williams II (361), Tommy Cannon (348), Sean Gaddis (341), Chris Dawson (327), Sartain (298) and Jeremy LaCoe (284).
At season’s end, the ARMS points champion will pocket at least $4,000.
Continuing to crush it: Year after year, the USRA continues to attract more racetracks and dirt racing competitors through fair, logical and cost-effective rules accompanied by an organization that puts the racers and racetrack operators first.
For the upcoming 2022 campaign for the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series, there are currently more than 50 of America’s finest dirt ovals which will host over 1,000 nights of racing this season.
