Weather woes wash out USMTS event

Heavy rain Tuesday night and a forecast for more of the same Wednesday evening made for miserable muddy conditions at the Southern Iowa Speedway, forcing event organizers to cancel Wednesday night’s show at the “Mahaska County Monster.”

NASCAR superstar Kenny Wallace will join the USMTS Modifieds when they return to the Southern Iowa Speedway on Monday, Sept. 20, for the 7th Annual Musco Lighting Southern Iowa Challenge.

The 24th Annual Musco Lighting Fall Challenge will take place on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8-9. The event will feature Musco USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.

The Southern Iowa Speedway is a half-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.5 mile west of US 63 on SR 92, then 0.3 mile north on I St. (at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds).
