OSKALOOSA, Iowa – On Wednesday night the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series was in action at the Southern Iowa Speedway with two new faces battling their way into victory lane.

In the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car division, Shane Weller took the checkers over Mike Van Genderen who tried several times but just couldn’t make the move. This was Weller’s second win at the Mahaska County Monster in 2010. The third spot went to Kyle Harwood and T.J. Henderson grabbed the fourth spot.

In the MUSCO USRA Modifieds, Josh Truman of Indianola finally put the bad luck behind him and took his first win at Osky. Truman and Kalona driver Adam Bell battled for the lead before Truman distanced himself from the field and took the checkered flag ahead of Ron Ver Beek, Bell and last week’s winner, Steven Blattler.

The Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mods saw Eldon’s Jason McDaniel pace the field and take the win over Drew Lawson, with first-time visitor Rocky Fosdyck in third and Mike Wanders in fourth.

In the USRA Hobby Stock feature, Donavan Nunnikhoven of Sully crossed the finish line first, but after post-race inspection he was found to have an illegal cylinder head and disqualified for the second time in 2010. This gave Todd Reitzler the victory with Steve Allen in second, followed by Dustin Griffiths in third and current points leader Derek Kirkland taking the fourth spot.

Another round of Wild Wednesday night racing action is on tap next Wednesday, Aug. 4. Musco USRA Modifieds, Carter’s Manufacturing USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks will make up the racing card with $500 to win both the B-Mod and Hobby Stock main events. There will be no Stock Cars next Wednesday.

With 21 or more entries, the winner of the Musco USRA Modified main event will pocket $1,000 with a minimum $100 to each starter.

There is no entry fee, no driver registration fee and this attendance bonus will continue throughout the 2010 season.

Pits will open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:15 and the first heat race starts at 7:30. General admission grandstand tickets are just $8 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12 and pit passes are $25. Children ages 5 and under are always admitted free of charge.

The Southern Iowa Speedway is a half-mile semi-banked clay oval located 0.5 mile west of US 63 on SR 92, then 0.3 mile north on I St. (at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds).
