FERTILE, Iowa -- Current O’Reilly USMTS point leader Kelly Shryock, of Fertile, Iowa stretched out his lead over Jason Hughes and the rest of the USMTS competitors after sweeping the two events at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, IA over the weekend. Both nights were very similar, as Kelly was able to win his heat race each night before redrawing a number one to earn the pole position for both the $2,000 to win show on Friday and the $3,000 to win event the following evening.

In Friday night’s feature event, Kelly drove his AERO Wheels / HiTechLubricants.com / Shryock Racing Components #3 Skyrocket Chassis through the ruts on the very rough track surface. He survived a Jason Hughes’ slide job in turn three of the last lap by driving back under him, beating him to the finish line to claim the $2,000 victory. On Saturday night, Kelly expanded his point lead over Jason Hughes by virtue of his victory and Jason’s 24th place finish. Kelly now has amassed four wins, seven Top 5’s, and eight Top 10’s in the eight USMTS starts in 2005.

The next scheduled USMTS event at the Fox Ridge (WI) Speedway has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. Kelly will be back in USMTS action again on April 22 and 23 at the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO. The driver of the #3 machine is thinking of running at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, MN this weekend. That decision will be a last minute one depending on weather and other factors.
