Dodge County Speedway to sanction USRA B-Mods
KASSON, Minn. - There will be some changes to the divisions being run at the Dodge County Speedway for 2010, officials announced at the 2009 awards banquet on Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Byron American Legion Hall in Kasson.
Fairboard president Larry Schaefer and track manager Mike Schubert told the crowd that the pure stock class would not be back in 2010. With car counts declining, the class was eliminated before the year was over. It was tough decision and track officials thanked those that did support the track.
It was then announced that the Karl Chevrolet USRA B-Mods will be sanctioned and running at the facility weekly in 2010. The USRA B-Mods are considered an “entry-level” modified class and have different rules than the Wissota Midwest Mods.
Licensed drivers racing in the USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mod division at the 3/8-mile high-banked oval will be eligible for track points funds, as well as a lucrative national points funds as part of the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series.
With two other area tracks — Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley and Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis. — also running the division in 2010, there is quite a bit of interest in Southern Minnesota and Northern Iowa for this type of racecar.
Another factor is, as of now, there is no other track in these areas running the class on Sunday nights. So it seems like a good fit at Kasson.
Track officials wanted to get the word out of the changes so competitors can start to prepare for the 2010 season.
More announcements concerning the 2010 season will be made during the off-season.
