Burton, Jauregui sizzle at Vado

Mingo Jauregui won the USRA B-Mod main event.

Mingo Jauregui won the USRA B-Mod main event.

Kid’s Night at the Vado Speedway Park was hotly contested on Saturday, Sept. 18, for Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series divisions in action on the program.

A rough-and-tumble Medieval USRA Stock Car feature saw multiple cautions, which cut the laps to just seven after the time limit expired.

Jonathan Burton raced from 8th and withstood the carnage to claim the victory over 18th-starting Josh Reynolds, who worked his way through the field and stayed out of trouble as well.

Herman Garcia raced inside the top five all event long, crossing the line in third ahead of Shawn McCarty and Garrett Stearns.

Mingo Jauregui padded his USRA B-Mod track point lead with a 15th-to-1st run in the night’s 20-lap main event.

After starting inside the seventh row, he was able to race his way into the top five relatively early in the event and was able to dig deep on the bottom of the speedway on his way to the front.

After Daniel Lozoya lead the opening lap, Sherman Barnett took the lead early from his 3rd starting position and looked to try to run away from the field, but the race behind him was hotly contested with Jauregui working his way forward from 15th, Ricardo Olague Jr charging from his 21st-starting spot and Justin Allen, who started 12th, also appearing in the top five after the mid-point of the event.

Jauregui completed the run for his second win in a row with Olague working forward from 21st to record a solid second-place finish ahead of Allen, 12th-starting Dustin Smith and Aasa Flores, who had to rally from the tail after a mid-race tire change.

The Vado Speedway Park will be back in action this coming Saturday, Sept. 25, with Topless Night where the USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods will run without roofs.

Super Trucks, Claimers and Legends will also be in action.

Pits open at 4 p.m. with the grandstand opening at 5 and racing starting at 7:30.

For fans not able to attend in person, all events held during the 2021 season at the Vado Speedway Park will also be live streamed online at WatchFYE.tv.
