The final Hot City Nights promotion of the season at the Vado Speedway Park was hotly contested on Saturday, August 28th for the five divisions in action on the program and both Odessa, Texas racers that were in competition won their respective main events, taking top honors back to West Texas with them.

Gary Kerr Jr. got to the track late, barely made his heat race and then had to work over race-long leader Rick Garcia to claim the Medieval USRA Stock Car feature.

Garcia took command at the start of the main from his outside front row starting spot and lead the majority of the feature with Kerr racing from the fifth row to put heavy pressure on him just past the mid-point.

Garrett Stearns, Shane McNutt and Daniel Sanchez were in the mix up front as well, but Kerr was able to get by them and set his sights on Garcia out front.

Once Kerr got to the inside of Garcia, he was able to capitalize on a misstep by the race leader to take the top spot and run off with the win.

Stearns ran second with Garcia, McNutt and Kenny McCoy in the top five.

Fito Gallardo topped a wild USRA B-Mod feature as the top four finishers in the event started 14th, 13th, 15th and 20th, respectively, and roared their way through the field and to the front during the 20-lap event.

Billy Roy Harris took command early from the pole with Tom Connor, Sherman Barnett and Lucas Ward in the mix early as well but Gallardo, Christy Barnett and Mingo Jauregui were on a mission to the front as the trio worked together to get through slower traffic.

Barnett got there first and took the lead just past the mid-point, but Gallardo was too strong and overpowered her for the lead several laps later. Once out front, Gallardo ran away during the final laps for the win with Barnett chasing him to the line, followed by Jauregui, Hector Barraza and Sherman Barnett.

The Vado Speedway Park will be back in action this coming Labor Day Weekend with a pair of events featuring Medieval USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods, plus 360 Winged Sprint Cars, Legends Cars and Claimers on Saturday and Sunday nights.
