Nick Rivera won the USRA Modified main event.

Another Hot City Nights program was held Saturday at the Vado Speedway Park and hot action on the track was the name of the game all night long during the program.

After a heat race win earlier in the night, Xander Parra led the field to the green and after an early-race battle with Daniel Blaeser, but fifth-starting Jonathan Burton took over the top spot and raced away with his second Medieval USRA Stock Car feature win of the season ahead of 2020 track champion Bryan Bennett.

Burton and Bennett ran out front while Shane McNutt, Brian Kleine and Fred Gibson worked into the top five where they crossed the finish line.

The final event of the night was the 25-lap USRA Modified feature with Cory Hemphill on the pole. On the start, Hemphill and Austin Adams battled out front while Christy Barnett worked into the second spot early.

Terry Tipton ran inside the top five early, while eighth-starting Nick Rivera used the top side of the speedway to make progress forward. Rivera and Jimmy Ray both used the top line to work into the top five early and then continue their progression toward the front.

Rivera took over the lead and raced off to the win over his father-in-law, Ray, in second. Barnett ran third with Jonathon Ortega and Tipton rounding out the top five when the checkered flag flew.

The Vado Speedway Park will be back in action Saturday, August 14, with another Hot City Nights promotion where fans from Deming, Silver City, Hurley, Bayard and Santa Clara will be admitted into the grandstand area for just $5 with a valid ID. Pits open at 4 p.m. with the grandstand opening at 5.

For fans not able to attend in person, all events held during the 2021 season will be live at watchfye.tv.
