Jesse Haynie won the USRA Modified main event.

Saturday night, the Vado Speedway Park hosted another great night of Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action featuring USRA Modifieds and Medieval USRA Stock Cars.

The USRA Stock Cars rolled out next with Rick Garcia in his No. 5 on the pole.

A great battle ensued at the start of the event with ninth-starting Gary Kerr Jr. emerging as the leader over Garrett Stearns and Josh Reynolds as they battled for the top spot.

Bryan Bennett, Shane McNutt and Jason Josselyn were in the mix as well until Bennett needed to pit for a flat tire and Josselyn ended his night early with overheating issues.

Kerr raced to his second feature win over Stearns, Reynolds, McNutt and Bennett, who charged from the tail after a mid-race caution.

The final event of the night was the USRA Modified 25-lap main with Tim Tharp and Christy Barnett on row one.

Barnett rocketed off the front row at the drop of the green and was in her own zip code early with Tharp having a great run in second over the first half of the event.

Behind the leaders were Xavier Ortega, Jonathon Ortega, Fito Gallardo, Jake Gallardo, Jesse Haynie and Philp Houston battling for the third spot.

A mid-race caution for a spinning Tharp bunched the field back up and allowed Haynie to blast from his second row starting spot to the lead and never look back.

Haynie, who won his first career USRA B-Mod feature two weeks ago, raced out front and held off a hungry pack of competitors to win his first ever USRA Modified feature over Fito Gallardo, 16th-starting Nick Rivera, Jake Gallardo and Ortega.

The Vado Speedway Park will be back in action Saturday, June 12, with another Hot City Nights where residents from Canutillo, Vinton, Santa Teresa, Sunland Park and Prado Verde will be admitted into the grandstand area for just $5 with a valid ID.

Pits open at 4 p.m. with the grandstand opening at 5 and racing beginning at 7:30.
