Mike Striegel made a late decision to make the trip Friday night to the Lebanon Midway Speedway pay off as the "Wheatland Outlaw" fended back hard charges early in the feature from Mitchell Franklin and the final five laps from points leader Kris Jackson in capturing his first USRA B-Mod feature win of the season.

Striegel started the feature from the pole with Mitchell on his outside. As the green flew, Brian Myers spun in turn one in front of Jackson and the rest of the field causing a restart.

After a couple of more cautions, Striegel had Franklin looking to the top side trying to grab the lead as Jackson, the two-time USRA B-Mod national champion had moved from his seventh starting spot to third after Shawn Whitman spun and retired from the feature with car problems.

A great three-car race up front for the lead saw tight racing behind them with Jerry Ellis, Jay Flinn, Wesley Briggs and Cole Stillwell.

With a smooth quick pace being set by Striegel, Franklin and Jackson were waging a great battle for second while keeping pace with the leader. On lap 8, Jackson swung to the top side around Franklin and closed on Striegel as Franklin was trying to move back around Jackson.

The final three laps saw Jackson give Striegel everything possible but Striegel kept stride in fending back the charge in capturing the win and the $500 winner's money.

The Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series continues next Friday night, May 21, at the Lebanon Midway Speedway along with Late Models, Midwest Mods, Super Stocks Pure Stocks and FWD Hornets with racing at 8 p.m.

USRA B-Mods will be competing on Sunday, May 30, as part of the Tony Roper Memorial.
