Rules Reminder: B-Mod, Stock Car Carburetors

Due to the discovery of several illegal carburetors this past weekend in the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car and USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mod classes at various USRA-sanctioned tracks, USRA officials are reaffirming the current carburetor rule.

The USRA rulebook (Rule 10.3.7 for Stock Cars, Rule 10.3.5 for B-Mods) states that a maximum one and three-quarter (1-3/4) inch butterfly bore at the base plate and one one and three-eighths (1-3/8) inch unaltered venturi is permitted.

"Grinding of the carburetor is not permitted," said USRA Technical Director Ron Reefer. "The carburetor cannot be ground to equal the base plate."

USRA officials have announced that drivers will have until July 1 to have the problem resolved. This will be teched rigourously at all tracks running the Stock Car and B-Mod classes.

Remember, the USRA rulebook is a guideline of what you CAN DO to your racecar. If it doesn't say you can do it, you CANNOT DO IT.
