Weather watching...
Officials and track promoters for the inaugural B&B Chassis USRA Southern Thaw presented by American Racer are currently discussing contingency plans while they keep one eye on the weather forecast for this weekend’s event kickoff.
An announcement is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon to update fans and competitors about what changes, if any, will be made to the schedule of events.
The first two nights are slated to take place this Friday and Saturday, February 12-13, at the RPM Speedway in Crandall, and then racers roll into the Big O Speedway in Ennis on Monday and Tuesday, February 15-16. That’s followed by a one-night stand at the 82 Speedway in Petty on Wednesday, February 17. The mini-series concludes Thursday and Friday, February 18-19, at the Monarch Motor Speedway in Wichita Falls.
USRA Stock Cars will be racing for $1,200 to win each night, USRA Limited Mods grapple for a $1,000 top prize, Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks fight for $750 to win and USRA Tuners try to take home $200 each night. Factory Stocks will compete for a $2,000 top prize on Saturday at the RPM Speedway during The Smackdown.
Eligible USRA Stock Car racers will be racing for a series points that pays $2.500 to win. Points funds for USRA Limited Mods and Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks both pay $1,000 to the champ and the driver earning the most points in the USRA Tuner division is set to earn $200.
