Sunday night action at Humboldt Speedway saw the 2020 debut of the USRA Modifieds at Humboldt Speedway. This class now appears on special occasions, this particular event being extra special because it served as the prelude to this coming Friday’s main event: the Summit USMTS National Championship fueled by Casey's—a traveling series that boasts Outlaw Modified racers from all over the United States and Canada.

In Sunday’s race, a sampling of USMTS drivers were in attendance as well as local USRA Modified pilots eager to test their skills against the touring drivers.

Dominating the feature action was third generation Wichita racer Tanner Mullens. After winning his heat, Mullens started on the pole position of the feature and virtually drove off from the rest of the field for a wire-to-wire win.

Fayetteville, Ark., driver Tyler Wolff was runner-up, USMTS regular and one-time King of America Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, took third, Chanute driver Paden Phillips finished fourth and Jared Russell of Wagoner, Okla., tallied fifth in the 12-car field.

These drivers and many more will be in competition at Humboldt Speedway this Friday night, June 5.

Fort Scott driver Andy Bryant—a veteran of The Hummer—was flawless in winning the Ray’s Metal Depot USRA B-Mod feature. Runner-up in the event was Clint Johnson of Neosho, Mo. Jeremy Chambers of Baldwin City scored third. Tyler Kidwell of Chanute and Muskogee, Okla., driver Dalton Ragsdale completed the top five of the 21-car feature field.

Action resumes Friday night at 7 p.m. at Humboldt Speedway. In addition to USMTS Modifieds and USRA Ray’s Metal Depot USRA B-Mods—both to be televised on RacinDirt.TV—Midwest Mods, Factory Stocks and Sport Compacts will also compete.
