I-35 Speedway adds new firetruck, among other things
What’s new at I-35 Speedway in 2020? How about a new firetruck, an additional back stretch wall, transponders, radios (thank you Racing Electronics) and the return of a former announcer.
I-35 Speedway is pleased to announce that our track announcer from 1999 to 2013, Phillip Wilson, is returning as the track announcer in 2020.
The 38-year-old Wilson has worked a gate person, and at lineups in addition to announcing at the track. He is slated to be the public address announcer for the Chillicothe Mudcats Baseball team and has been the announcer for the North Central Missouri College Pirates basketball team since 2017.
Our previous announcer has been transferred due to work. So, the vocal tones you will hear this year coming from the announcer’s booth will once again be the golden tones of Wilson.
Remember, when we start racing, 18 and under get in free every week to the grandstands. See everyone Saturday, April 18, for Family Date Night. Remember for Saturday's Family Date Night stay safe, we are social distancing, which means stay in the vehicle. See you Saturday.
