VanderBeek, Johnson, Edel, McDaniel in victory lane at Southern Iowa Speedway

OSKALOOSA, Iowa - The Southern Iowa Speedway featured five classes in action Wednesday, with Kids Night presented by the following businesses of New Sharon: Pro-Line Buildings, DeJong Manufacturing, McGriff’s, Phils Auto Shop, Moppe Shoppe of Oskaloosa, Ralphi’s Reruns, O’Dells Unlimited of New Sharon & Knoxville.

The first main event of the night was the USRA Hobby Stock feature with Andy Coleman of Packwood leading the first six laps before a flat right rear tire ended his run to victory. With Coleman’s car slowing on the top of turns 3-4, Wes Almond was racing on the high side and clipped the car of Coleman’s, sending Almond's car upside-down and bringing the red flag out. When the action resumed, defending track champion Jason McDaniel of Eldon led the final six laps for his second straight win at the Mahaska County Half-Mile Monster. The runner-up spot went to Danny Thrasher of Agency, who tried to close in for the win but took second with Shannon Sherwood of Rose Hill in third and Don Nunnikhoven of Kellogg in fourth.

In the USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car feature, Bobby Greene of Eddyville held off several challenges and led all 16 laps for the win. Howard Gordon Jr. of Oskaloosa tried several times to take the lead but Greene was too tough with Gordon taking second followed by Corey Stout of Oskaloosa in third and Matt Greiner of Washington in fourth.

The fourth feature was the USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mod feature. Leroy Groenindyk of Oskaloosa paced the first five laps before the red flag flew for his son, Tyler, who rolled his #17t machine in turn 4 after making contact with the inside tire barrier. On the restart, Andrew Schroeder of Keswick and Brian Edel of Oskaloosa battled for the lead, making a three-car battle with Edel powering his machine into the lead and holding off Schroeder for the win. This was Edel’s second straight win and moved him into the points lead. Schroeder took second, with Leroy Groenindyk in third and Mike Shelton of Bloomfield in fourth.

In the USRA Modifieds, Zack VanderBeek of New Sharon had his Cheetos #33z flying around the track, leading all 16 laps with Colt Mather of Webster in second, Ron Ver Beek of Oskaloosa in third and Scott Dickey of Packwood in fourth.
