OSKALOOSA, Iowa - The 13th annual MUSCO Lighting Great American Stock Car Shootout at the Southern Iowa Speedway on Wednesday featured four exciting classes under the USRA banner.

Jason McDaniel of Eldon topped the USRA Hobby Stock main event to earn the $700 top prize. Nathan Wood, Danny Thrasher, Steve Churchill and Don Nunnikhoven rounded out the top-5 finishers.

The Carter's Manufacturing USRA B-Mods saw Oskaloosa driver Brian Edel use his GM Performance Parts Crate Engine power to score the $700 victory over Andrew Schroeder, Greg Mitchell, Bill Gibson and Leroy Groenedyke.

New Sharon veteran Brad Pinkerton made his return after a three-week layoff pay off as he scored the $1,000 winner's share of the purse in the MUSCO Lighting USRA Modified main event after starting 12th on the grid. Second through fifth went to Zack VanderBeek, Donovan Lodge, Colt Mather and Ron Ver Beek.

Colt Mather led early on before a lapped car collided with him and ended his run. A few laps later, Tom Schmitt held the point but was also a victim of the same lapped car and relinquished the lead to Mitrisin. Schmitt held on for the runner-up paycheck, followed by A.J. Johnson, Zack VanderBeek and Shane Weller.

Next Wednesday, July 16, will see five classes in action for Kids Night featuring the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series plus 305 Sprints and the “Faster Pastor” race on the legendary Mahaska County Half-Mile Monster.

Pit gates will open at 5 p.m. while spectator gates open at 5:30. Hot laps will start around 7:15 and the first green flag is slated to wave at 7:30 sharp.

General admission adult tickets are just $7 while kids ages 6-13 are $3 and children 5 and under get in for FREE. Pit passes are $20.
