I-44 Speedway ready for June 21 reopening with $5 grandstand admission

LEBANON, Mo. - After 300-plus loads of new dirt and a reconstructed track, the high banks of the I-44 Speedway plans on being ready for reopening on June 21 with a $5 ticket into the grandstand.

Action will feature UMP Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Bombers, Factory Stocks, B-Mods and Rookies as gates will open at 5 p.m. with racing set for 7:30 sharp.

Billed as the fastest 3/8-mile dirt track around, officials at the track felt a need to redo the dirt surface and replace the red clay with some brown dirt and make the track into a true 3/8-mile by moving the top groove downward and the bottom groove downward also.

Rain has hampered this process as the track has been closed since May 24 in an effort to give the drivers a good surface, and the fans a great racing program.

The I-44 Speedway, celebrating it's 25th season of local racing, has hosted some of the best short track racing on both dirt and asphalt in it's history.

The track schedule has changed as a special Saturday night, July 5, show has been added to the schedule and will hold a fireworks show that night, along with a kids bike race with action featuring USRA Modifieds, Bombers, Factory Stocks, B-Mods and Super Stocks.

Thursday night, July 3, will feature a Late Model special as the DLRA Late Models will hold a challange race against the MARS Series as it will also be racing a points show for USRA Modifieds and Factory Stocks.

The long-awaited DLRA Late Model challange event against the MSRA Late Models has been rescheduled to Sat night, July 26.
