Weather pushes racing back one more week at I-44 Speedway

LEBANON, Mo. - Heavy rains throughout the week has caused officials at the high banks of the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., to push the racing card back one week while the track is undergoing a new surface overhaul.

According to promoter Randy Mooneyham, the track is about fifty percent done. But with rain on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and WEdnesday has not allowed crews to finish the project.

The track is putting brown dirt down and removing the red clay, plus making the track a bit shorter.

The groove on the low side is being moved downward and the upper 10 to 20 feet of the racing surface will not be used. In fact, the former asphalt surface may be visible on the high side of the racetrack.

The next scheduled event on the I-44 Speedway schedule is Saturday, June 14, as the AllState Insurance DLRA Late Models will make there first ever event at I-44 as they challange the O'Reilly MSRA Late Models out of Arkansas, along with points races for the USRA Modifieds, B-Mods and Bombers.
