Another big night of racing and free backpacks filled with school supplies for the kids put smiles on the faces of fans of all ages for McCarthy Auto Group Kids Night on Saturday at the I-35 speedway. Drivers mingled with fans at intermission, giving autographs as two kids bicycles, six additional backpacks, a ton of Gregg Truelove Racing kookies and Shadren Turner Racing 54th Street Grill Free Gingo Dip & Chip coupons were distributed to the fans. In addition, a large number of kids participated in several foot races on the track.

The Out-Pace USRA B-Mods have become a fantastic division to watch. Each week, the field is competitive and growing in popularity for drivers and fans. The drivers put on an exceptional race once again on Saturday.

Shadren Turner began the feature inside row one next to last week’s winner, Chase Galvan. As the green flag flew, the field roared down the front stretch. Turner went for the lead, with Galvan running to his outside. A three-wide battle unfolded, as Randy Ainsworth raced in the middle, as Nic Hanes was to his inside, and Kyle Henning To Ainsworth’s outside. Fans jumped to their feet. Turner and Galvan were side-by-side as well, racing to the lead.

At the conclusion of lap one, the order was, Turner, Galvan, Hanes, and Henning in the top four spots. Just two laps latter, a hard charging Danan Knott was closing in on the front group, when a large puff of smoke belched out from his his racing machine, ending what looked to be a promising night for Knott. Other drivers making their way forward were Tyler Cadwallader, and Daniel Harris. Starting inside row eight, Harris was remarkably, running mid-pack, just before getting halfway through the feature. Up front, Turner was fighting desperately to keep the lead, with Galvan, and Hanes seemingly taking turns at Turner for the front position.

Turner ran the high side cushion, with Galvan inches away from his rear bumper, as Hanes was diving low inside the pair like a jet fighter, trying to get his line to race by Turner and Galvan. Lap after lap, the amazing show went on this way. Cadwallader soon made his presence known, racing into 4th, and was challenging for third. Racing out of turn two, Cadwallader shot to low inside, making a three wide battle for second with Hanes and Galvan down the backstretch.

Running near the apron, Cadwallader raced into 2nd, setting his sights on the leader, Turner, with Hanes and Galvan side-by-side for 3rd. Turner held off Cadwallader, earning Turner his 5th feature victory of the year. Cadwallader finished 2nd, Hanes 3rd. Daniel Harris drove an exceptional race, finishing 4th, with Galvan 5th.

The American Racer USRA Stock Cars lined up next for their feature.

Jeff Dixon started from inside row one, with Keith Simmons to his outside. Simmons went to the early lead, racing with Dixon, side-by-side. Simmons led lap one, with Dixon 2nd. Everyone raced into turn one, when Blake Peeler made a big move to the inside of Dixon. Peeler somehow took just one lap to race for second, after starting inside row three.

Peeler put the fans on their feet. Running the low inside line, with a huge amount of momentum, the left front of Peeler lifted off the ground a foot or so, as his race car stretched for every ounce of energy. Peeler and Dixon went several laps, door handle to door handle for second. Peeler wasn’t looking for second, as he continually raced the inside line, passing Dixon on the high side, and inside Simmons for the lead as well.

Dixon wasn’t to be denied either. Simmons, Peeler, and Dixon were locked in a epic battle for the lead, lap after lap. By lap six, Peeler edged out Simmons, sliding just in front of him by a mere inches, and into the lead. This left Dixon and Simmons to contest for second, but soon Austin Bouzek was challenging the pair. Peeler held on for the win, his first feature victory at I-35 this year.

The USRA Modifieds showed no mercy for fans trying to catch their breath.

Isaac Dotson started from inside row one with Zach Sanders. Tyler Hibner was inside row two, with Tyler Grooms, with Lee Hibner inside row three, next to Kiel Morton, who was celebrating his birthday. Dennis Elliott lined up outside row four. As the green flag came out, Sanders shot to the outside out of turn two, taking the lead down the backstretch. Lee Hibner took the inside, and raced into second. The Field roared down the front stretch.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Dennis Elliott screamed to the inside going into turn one, and into 3rd. Elliott had three feature wins in a row, with five victories to his credit. Ed Noll was also making his way toward the front, racing into 5th just behind Tyler Hibner. Sanders raced to outside high side cushion, with Lee Hibner on the low side, lap after lap. Elliott was nipping at the pair, looking for a way by.

Suddenly, Noll slowed down the backstretch, coming to a stop inside turn three, ending what looked to be a promising night for Noll. The caution flag restart resulted in the battle heating up for the lead. Hibner ran to the front, getting by Sanders. The caution came out again for a spin involving Chris Mercer in turn two. The single file restart began with Hibner up front, Sanders in 2nd, and Elliott in third.

Just behind the leader Hibner, Elliott and Sanders were side-by-side for 2nd, lap after lap. In the closing laps, Hibner faced lapped traffic. Threading his way, Hibner was slowed briefly, allowing Elliott to gain some ground, but it was not enough. Hibner raced to his 2nd feature win of the year At I-35 Speedway. Elliott finished 2nd, Tyler Hibner 3rd, Zach Sanders 4th, and Chase Breid 5th.
