USMTS show postponed to May 21; Season opener now May 14 at Oskaloosa
OSKALOOSA, Iowa — O’Reilly USMTS National Tour drivers got an early start to their Spring Break on Thursday when USMTS officials announced that all three events scheduled for this weekend have been postponed due to heavy rainfall in the Southeast Iowa and Northwest Illinois area.
“This is really disappointing for us, our fans and our drivers,” said USMTS president Todd Staley. “All signs pointed to a great weekend of racing, but Mother Nature decided otherwise.”
The rained-out tripleheader was supposed to kick off this Friday at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa, with the 7th Annual Spring Classic. That event has been postponed until Wednesday, May 21, which will be the next time that the O’Reilly USMTS National Tour is back in action.
The season opener for the Southern Iowa Speedway will now be Wednesday, May 14. Musco Lighting USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks will be racing for track and national points in the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series.
Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstands will open at 5:30, with hot laps at 7:15 and racing at 7:30.
The Southern Iowa Speedway is a semi-banked half-mile dirt oval located 0.5 mile west of US 63 on SR 92 (A Ave. West), then 0.3 mile north on N. I St. (at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds). Day-of-race information is available by calling 641-673-7004 or online at www.rlpromtions.com/oskaloosa.
