Jackson back in winners circle at Lebanon Midway
Defending Out-Pace USRA B-Mod National Champion Kris Jackson of Lebanon took the lead from Jared Monger on the third lap and then turned back several strong charges from track co-points leader Sam Petty before the halfway point of the 20-lap feature for the class in fasy-paced caution-free feature.
Jackson, who started inside of row two, saw Monger and Brian Myers bring the field to the green as last week's winner Petty had to start back in the 10th spot.
Monger made work on the top side of the quick 1/3-mile dirt oval as track officials had to fight a very heavy Thursday rain and then saw hard winds on Friday making track prep a work in progess.
Monger used the high side of the track to grab the opening lead as Jackson was patient early and letting things sort out as Petty was wasting no time in making his forward movement with several good side by side battles behind. Working the middle and then low side, Jackson took charge on lap 3 as Monger stayed top side with Petty closing quickly.
With Jackson trying to stretch the lead, Petty moved around Monger on lap 5 and set his sights on Jackson and closed quickly.
For the next five laps with was a classic battle for the lead as Petty was putting on pressure. Last week, turn 2 proved to be the turning point of the feature, this week was the same as Jackson was able to get a strong bite off the turn and then cruised to the victory his second of the season and placed him back into the track points lead.
Petty rose a solid second place with a hot battle for third spot as Monger was trying to hold back Tyler Knudtson and Dillion McCowan. On lap 12, Knudtson moved into the spot with McCowan right beside him as this duo went door-to-door right to the checkered. with Monger rounding out the top five.
Qualifying heat wins went to McCowan and Petty.
Seventy race teams checked into the pits.
