Veteran USRA Modified driver Jason Pursley took the wheel of his son's Out-Pace USRA B-Mod and held back 2018 track champion Sam Petty for his first win of the season Friday night at the Lebanon Midway Speedway.

Persistent early morning drizzle kept several drivers away but the features made many wish they would have been there.

The redraw placed Pursley on the pole with Petty to his outside with Tyler Knudtson and Donnie Jackson in row 2. Pursley got the jump on the start with Petty, Knudtson and Jackson following closely. The race was only slowed once as Knudtson spun in turn 2 as he dropped to the rear of the field.

On the restart Petty tried the middle lane but Pursley dialed his No. 10P machine on the bottom smoothly as he launched off the corner to pull away. Petty held strong for the runner-up spot followed by a hard-charging Knudtson Jackson and Dalton Keith.

Pursley, who's son Dayton is in his rookie year in racing the big cars and was wanting some feedback and to see what his car was really doing had Dad take the wheel tonight. With the Bud Perry Memorial coming up next weekend at Midway the youngster who has been making big strides this season on a limited schedule thought maybe this was a good time to learn from the principal. The time and lesson paid off.

Lebanon Midway will be in action with the two-day Bud Perry Memorial on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26-27. Friday night action features the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod racing for Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points with a full racing program and regular payout. The top 6 finishers from Friday night lock into the first three rows of the $500-to-win Saturday night feature.

On Saturday night the high-horsepower USRA Modifieds will compete in a $700-to-win, $100-to-start feature with Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points awarded.

Friday night race time is 7:30 p.m. with Saturday night action starting at 6:30.
