Ryan Gillmore and Sam Petty topped the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action Saturday night as the Lebanon Midway Speedway and G3 Boats presented the USRA Modifieds making a return visit and joining the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods with a stellar field on hand.

Following the qualifying heats and top six in passing points redrawing for the spots, it was defending Out-Pace USRA B-Mod national champion Ryan Gillmore pulling the pole spot with Jason Pursley to his outside. After a couple of restarts, Pursley grabbed the opening lead with Gillmore, Daniel Franklin and Robbie Reed in tow.

Gillmore tried a couple of times to overtake Pursley but the veteran kept him at bay. This close battle lasted until lap 3 when Gillmore made the pass to take control as a fast-moving Kevin Backburn was making his presence known.

Gillmore opened five-car-length advantage as Pursley, Blackburn, Reed and Franklin were showing side-by-side action as Colson Kirk was rim-riding the top groove and gaining. Blackburn grabbed second from Pursley on lap 12 and set his sights on the leader. The caution waved on lap 16 as Franklin spun off turn 4 while going for position and Scotty Allen then retired to the pits.

On the restart Gillmore found Blackburn in his tire tracks as the two young guns went to battle. On lap 19, Reed made the pass on Pursley for the third spot and was closing in on the lead duo. With three laps to go, Blackburn made a strong run on Gillmore and was setting up when a small bobble out of turn 2 lost him several car-lengths as Gillmore took advantage. Reed then closed in on Blackburn in the race for second.

At the end of the 25-lap feature, Gillmore took home the $750 top prize along with an extra $100 bonus from Oakley Motors of Lebanon for leading lap 15. Former track champion Jamie Ragland and Knudtsons 32 Garage also added extra money to the purse. Gilmore won a free American Racer racing tire from Bud's Tire & Wheel while Blackburn took home a new wheel and Reed a $25 certificate from Bud's from owner Michael Perry and the team.

Qualifying heat wins went to Reed and Allen.

The Out-Pace USRA B-Mod action saw 2018 track champion Sam Petty make the pass on leader Mitchell Franklin on the eighth lap and then withstood some tight pack racing and a late surge from Steve Muilenburg to take the win.

Franklin, from his front row spot, grabbed the opening lead with Muilenbburg following close behind along with Donnie Jackson. Franklin was keeping the pack at bay when Muilenburg spun on lap 4. Franklin then had Petty and Donnie Jackson charging while Cale Turner was making his presence known in the top five.

After a side-by-side battle, Petty made the pass as Turner, Jackson and Tyler Brown were following. A long green run then saw Muilenburg working his way back to the front after restarting 19th following the early spin.

With Petty opening the advantage, Turner had moved into second spot s Muilenburg caught the pack and shot around for second place on lap 14 of the 20-lap feature. Petty took the win followed by Muilenburg, Franklin, Turner and Brown with some excellent door-to-dor racing in the pack.

Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action continues next Saturday with the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods in action along with the Street Stocks, Midwest Mods, Pure Stock, Hornets and Gateway Vintage Racing Association with racing at 7:30 p.m.
