Lebanon Midway ready to crown Spring/Summer Series champion
Sam Petty of Niangua will clinch the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod track title at the Lebanon Midway Speedway just by checking in on Friday.
The Lebanon Midway Speedway is set to crown the 2018 Spring/Summer Series Champions this Friday night, Aug. 3, with action in the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Hornets, Pure Stocks and Bombers with the 17th straight race for the first part of the race season.
After losing the first two races of the season in early April due to weather, the 1/3-mile dirt track located 6 miles east of Lebanon, Mo., has had a very successful and strong season so far with more than 220 different drivers competing so far this season.
Veteran Sam Petty of Niangua will clinch the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod track title just by checking in Friday. Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points leader Kris Jackson has captured 11 feature wins so far this season while Petty has three wins to his credit, most of them coming from beyond the 10th starting spot including two feature wins which earned over $750 to win on each night.
Petty has been battling Jackson almost every Friday night this season and will tell you he was probably gotten faster competing with the Lebanon racer.
Other Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature winners in 2018 include defending champion Tyler Brown, who has ran only a partial schedule this season, and Robbie Ewing chalked up a win in his first start at Midway this season.
While several champions are wrapped-up by just checking-in, many tight positions can be changed. Jackson has a narrow 10-point margin over Lebanon's Tyler Knudtson for the runner-up spot.
For added excitement, the track will hold a powder puff and mechanics race after the regular program.
The Lebanon Midway Speedway will then take off until Sept. 8 with the 2nd Annual Bud Perry Memorial featuring the Cash Money Super Late Model Series along with Out-Pace USRA B-Mods competing for national points, plus Hornets, Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks and the Gateway Vintage Racing Group, and will continue racing action on Saturday nights through the first week of November with the Fall Survivor Series.
Out-Pace USRA B-Mod national points will be awarded every night that Midway competes.
Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing at 8. All classes will be open draw for heat spots and a row redraw inversion determines the line-up. Last week's winners will be starting back in the sixth row as per line-up procedures.
