Bloomfield Frost Buster canceled

BLOOMFIELD, Iowa -- The start to the 2007 racing season at the Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway will have to wait one more week.

After heavy rainfall on Wednesday night and throughout Thursday, officials at RL Promotions have been forced to pull the plug on Friday’s inaugural Frost Buster at the 3/8-mile clay oval speedplant.

“We worked on the dirt all day Thursday to get it into shape,” said promoter Todd Staley. “Most of the track is manageable, but the area in turn 4 where the new wall was installed is a complete mess -- too muddy even for mud bogs.”

But race fans in and around Bloomfield, Iowa, won’t have long to wait before the roar of engines once again engulfs the Davis County Fairgrounds. The season opening event will now be Friday, April 6, when the high-powered stars and cars of the O’Reilly United States Modified Touring Series invades Bloomfield for the 2nd Annual Iowa-Missouri Border War.

Friday’s event will also be the first track points night for the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series featuring USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks and Hornets. With the O’Reilly USMTS Modifieds headlining the program, the USRA Modifieds will have their first points night the following Friday, April 13.

Gates will open at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7. Grandstand admission will be $15 for adults, kids ages 6-12 are $5 and children 5 and under get in for FREE. Pit passes will be $25.
