Patch, Bowers continue USRA title chase

MAYETTA, Kan. -- Two local Thunderhill Speedway drivers are in the midst of a heated point battle in the USRA Modified Division.

Travis Patch of Holton has been the most familiar face at the top of the standings, ranking as high as second and currently ranking third at press time.

More recently, Steven Bowers Jr. of Topeka has moved into the fifth place position in the National Standings on the heels of three consecutive victories at Humboldt Speedway.

Both drivers are chasing the $10,000 top prize awarded to the top finisher in the USRA National Standings, a division that nearly 600 drivers throughout the midwest have competed in.

Patch also currently leads the track point standings in the USRA Modifieds over veteran driver Bill Robison.

Bowers sits in the fifth position.

Leif Weyer continues to lead the USRA Stock Car standings at Thunderhill, just ahead of 15-year-old Kyle Covert and his twin brother Eric.

Waylon Banks has extended his USRA Hobby Stock lead over Tim Patch, who is just ahead of brother Brian and Brad Labonte.

Classes racing this weekend include Thundersprints, Modifieds, Superstocks, Factory Stocks, Hobby Stocks and Pony Stocks.

Gates open at 5 PM, hot laps start at 7, and races begin at 7:30.
