DECORAH, Iowa—A flood postponed the season championships at the Upper Iowa Speedway in late August, and since then Northeast Iowa has been hit hard with more rain than it can handle. Nearly three inches of rain were dumped onto the Upper Iowa Speedway Thursday night prior to the fire-breathing Iron Man Series event for Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods were set to invade.

Due to ample sunshine and drying track conditions, track crews were able to get the bullring raceable by Saturday afternoon.

The USRA Hobby Stocks were also competing on Saturday night. Chris Hovden started outside pole in the main event. He led the entire race despite a few cautions in between and late-race charges from USRA national championship contenders Brady Link and Scott Spilde.

Chris Hovden won the USRA Hobby Stock feature.

Danny Sacquitne led a good number of laps in the Holley USRA Stock Car feature event, but it was third-starting Mitch Hovden who took home the check. Hovden was able to get around Sacquitne shortly after the halfway point in a race that went green to checkers.

The Out-Pace USRA B-Mods closed out the night with an early favorite in the race, Dan Hovden, breaking early in the feature. This allowed Jason Schlangen to take of the top spot. Schlangen received some heavy pressure from Frankville, Iowa's Jimmy Broszeit and Kyle Anderson as the two battled for second. Anderson eventually passed Broszeit, with sights on Schlangen. A few mid-race cautions allowed for a close battle as the two leaders were side by side to take the white flag. Anderson edged Schlangen at the line in an exciting finish and claimed his second Iron Man Series win of the season.

Jsut two events remain on the 2016 Iron Man Series campaign. Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will compete Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 22-24, as part of the 18th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. Both divisions will be a part of the 3rd Annual USRA National Championships slated for Thursday-Saturday, Oct. 13-15, at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.
