Smokin’ Trackside Barbecue & Beer Bash at I-35 Speedway this weekend
WINSTON, Mo.—The aromas of I-35 Speedway are about to change this Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12-13. A normal aroma is the smell of racing fuel as the powerful engines of the racing machines take to the track on Saturday night. A new aroma will permeate the track beginning Friday as the smell of brisket, chicken, ribs and pork cooking in the smokers of various Kansas City Barbeque Society competitors will invade the track.
The Smokin’ Trackside BBQ & Brew Bash will be held at I-35 Speedway on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12-13. Racing, barbecue and brew... what can be more American?
Friday night events include music by AJ Gaither One Man Band, a fire performance from Sophie Sassafras and the Redneck Beer Tasting. The Redneck Beer Tasting will allow for tastings of various craft beers including Boulevard, Goose Island, and locally brewed Ninja Moose Brewery. The tasting is scheduled between 6 and 9 at the Trackside Bar and Grill. There will be a nominal redneck fee of $15 to taste the various brews and you will be provided your own redneck cup, a Red Solo Cup and a sharpie. Race cars will also be on display and barbeque chicken wings, food and drinks will be available for purchase. Attendance to the Friday Night event is free.
Saturday the Barbeque Competitors will be turning in their brisket, chicken, ribs, and pork to the palates of the judges. As this event is a state qualifier barbeque competition the Grand Champion of the Smokin Trackside BBQ contest will receive an automatic entry in the Jack Daniel’s World Championship and the American Royal Invitational BBQ contests. The American Royal Competition will also be held at a racetrack this year, Kansas Speedway. Teams entered into the Smokin Trackside BBQ competition are some of the best in the business including last year’s American Royal Invitational Winner and a team who has won $100,000 in a competition in Florida.
Saturday evening will be the barbeque team awards and our always fast always exciting racing of some of the best drivers in the Midwest competing in the USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B Mods, plus Charger, E Mod and Pure Stock classes.
