All three USRA classes in action this weekend at Thunderhill
MAYETTA, Kan. -- All three USRA-sanctioned classes will be in action this Saturday, April 29, at Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta, Kan., as a number of local drivers are expected to continue their run at the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series national championship.
The USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars and USRA Hobby Stocks will be joined by the Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints and the Pony Stocks, two classes that will make their first appearance at Thunderhill in 2006.
Travis Patch has claimed wins in the first two races of the season in the USRA Modifieds, placing him in prime position to make a run for his second straight track championship, as well as placing him in contention for the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series national championship.
Jim Powell claimed the first and only race of the season in the USRA Stock Cars at Thunderhill, as he will look return to the top spot once again.
Brad LaBonte has led only two laps this season in USRA Hobby Stock feature events, but those two laps have been good enough to lock up two feature victories. LaBonte’s last-lap victories have been at the expense of Fred Noll and Tim Patch, two drivers who will also be top contenders in the division this season.
Although their first race of the season was rained out, the Pony Stock division will look to return with a strong car count along with the ultra-quick Midwest Outlaw Lightning Sprints.
