RL Promotions computerizes scoring with SpeedNet Direct

CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. -– RL Promotions has joined the list of over 100 tracks and series that will be using the SpeedNet Direct Race Management software for tracking and managing their 2006 season points championships.

SpeedNet Direct Race Management software will be used to compute point totals for all RL Promotions-operated tracks, including the Cresco Speedway in Cresco, Iowa; Mountain Dew Bloomfield Speedway in Bloomfield, Iowa; Pepsi Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, Mo.; Pritchard Family Auto Stores Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa; and Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

RL Promotions, LLC president Todd Staley was excited about this new development.

“Using the SpeedNet software will ensure absolute accuracy and save our scorers a considerable amount of time in tabulating and posting the points standings to our websites,” Staley said.

Six years ago, SpeedNet Direct began development on a software product that promoters could use to track points, prize money and driver attendance. Since then, they have set the industry on its ear by distributing the software free of charge with numerous tracks and series getting in on the action.

When asked why they would invest so much time and money into something just to give it away for free, SpeedNet Direct president Kevin Spiddle explained “What SpeedNet Direct gets in return is valuable web content: up-to-the-minute race results, point standings and event schedules straight from the race officials.”

They display that content on their website (www.speednetdirect.com) which attracts thousands of visitors each month.

“The advertising generated from the website essentially pays for the software so scorers don’t have to,” he added.

Because not everyone does things exactly the same in short-track racing, SpeedNet Direct offers reasonably priced customization services and a variety of add-on modules to enhance the basic software such as custom line-ups, network versions, multiple track versions and a nifty bar code reader to speed up driver registration in the pits. Other options include transponder interfaces for AMB and Westhold, photo eye interfaces for TSI and RaceAmerica timers and sanction-specific reports and line-ups for the O’Reilly USMTS and the USRA.
