USRA to sanction Modifieds, B-Mods at Humboldt Speedway

HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- Officials from the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan., announced today that two classes will be sanctioned by the United States Racing Association (USRA) for 2006. Both the Modified and B-Modified divisions will all race under the USRA banner at the 1/4-mile semi-banked clay oval.

Street stocks, bombers and a front-wheel drive class will also compete on Friday nights at Humboldt Speedway.

"We're looking at possibly sanctioning our Street Stocks and Bombers with the USRA under the Stock Car and Hobby Stock classes," noted Humboldt Speedway co-promoter Ron Whitworth. Along with his wife, Rhenda, the Whitworths will begin their 16th season of operating the popular Humboldt, Kan., facility in 2006.

The USRA sanctioning brings the opportunity for drivers to race for a guaranteed track points fund, along with a national points fund as part of the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series. The top spots in the track's point funds will pay $1,000 to the Modified track champion and $500 to the season-ending champ in the B-Mod class.

The track's points funds are guaranteed with 16 race nights for each class, and points are accumulated for every race completed. On the national level, the top paying spots are $10,000 for Modifieds and $1,500 for B-Mods. National points are based off of a driver's 20 best finishes from USRA-sanctioned speedways.

Drivers competing at other USRA tracks must conform to USRA rules unless otherwise specified by that track. Rules variances will be posted on the USRA website at www.usraracing.com. Drivers will be required to purchase a USRA license that registers them with the series, provides additional insurance and is good at any USRA-sanctioned event. License applications can be found at the USRA website or be purchased at the Humboldt Speedway.

The USRA currently sanctions 18 speedways across the Midwest. Two speedways are in Kansas (Thunderhill Speedway in Mayetta and Humboldt), four are in Missouri, seven are in Iowa, four are in Minnesota and one track is located in Wisconsin.
