BRANDON, S.D.—Badlands Motor Speedway announced today that the Hobby Stock class in 2016 will be sanctioned by the United States Racing Association (USRA).

The USRA crowns a national champion in four different divisions with tracks located in South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico.

Last year’s USRA Hobby Stock national champion was Dustin Gulbrandson of Sioux Falls, S.D. The USRA Hobby Stock national champion will earn $1,500 in 2016 while the Badlands Motor Speedway track champion will earn up to $500.

“This is a big deal and it’s definitely going to help the class,” Gulbrandson said. “There are a lot of guys in the area that want to run USRA.”

The former Huset’s Speedway featured USRA B-Mods last season, but has discontinued that class while adding the Hobby Stocks from the USRA family.

The 2016 season will bring half-price Sunday night events and consist of 360 Sprint Cars and Micro-Sprints in addition to the USRA Hobby Stocks.

New lighting, scoreboards, grandstands, signage, electrical and fiber optics are all being put into place for the 2016 season.
